Scotland to Newcastle Ferry

Some time in the 1120s work began on the building of a large priory church on Lindisfarne, the ruins of which we see here today. Local limestone was used in building the Lindisfarne Priory. Between the two main areas of ruins in this photo you can see the Lindisfarne Castle where we were in the previous photo. We walked back by the track adhering to the sign 'Stay on Track - localised quick sand.'
